Summary

  • The Paris Agreement aims to limit global warming to well below 2 degrees, and while achieving the 1.5-degree target is unlikely, every incremental reduction in warming is crucial to mitigate climate risks.

  • Significant emissions reductions are essential, particularly in the energy, transport, food, and construction sectors, with a focus on transitioning to low carbon energy sources such as renewables and nuclear.

  • The decreasing costs of renewable energy, which can meet global demand by using minimal land, alongside the small land footprint of nuclear power, highlight viable paths for sustainable energy production that support agricultural activities.
